C. CAMPBELL SERVICES SET:
Masonic funeral services for Clayton Campbell, prominent 47-year old northern Nevada rancher, will be held Monday at 2pm in the Lovelock Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the family plot in Lone Mountain Cemetery, Lovelock.

Campbell's personal friends will serve as honorary pallbearers. Campbell, who was born Jan 19, 1908 in Vancouver, Washington, died Thursday at Humboldt General Hospital following a long illness. He had been a resident of Lovelock Valley most of his life and was one of the earliest and most active members of the Bureau of Land Management. Up to the time of his death, he served on the bureau's board. In addition to operating Humboldt House ranch in Pershing County, he owned and operated ranching properties in Unionville. Campbell was a member of the Lovelock [Fernley] Masonic Lodge and Kerak Shrine Temple in Reno.

Besides his wife Mrs. Grayce Campbell he is survived by a daughter Patricia, a sister Mrs. Earl Pitt, two brothers Clifford and Cecil Campbell both of Humboldt House, an aunt and an uncle Mr and Mrs. Claude Campbell and another aunt Mrs. Ivy Miller of Salem, Oregon. Winnemucca residents who will attend the Lovelock services include Mr. and Mrs. Pitt, Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Dunston, and John Tallman.

COLIN CAMPBELL IS LAID TO REST AT LONE MOUNTAIN

Colin William Campbell, 24-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey Campbell of Imlay, who died in a Reno hospital Sunday after undergoing an operation, was buried here Tuesday afternoon. The remains were brought from Reno Monday by Mrs. Campbell, accompanied by Mrs. Iva McNeilly, Mrs. Arthur Rose and Mrs. Black, relatives of the deceased.

The funeral was held at the Arobio hall, Rev. P. H. Willis officiating, and the burial was made in the Lone Mountain cemetery. Many and beautifil were the floral tributes which attested to the esteem in which the young man was heldby his hosts of friends who attended the services and followed the body to its last resting place.

The pall bearers were Lawrence Stiff, Halie Eddie, Eugene Sullivan, Morris Murray, Willis Preston, Herman Marker and William Munk.

Besides his parents he is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Alvirda Taylor of Gold Hill, Ilah Head of Imlay, Audrey Zaravis of Seattle and three brothers, Clifford, Clayton and Cecil, all of Imlay.

MRS. GWENDOLYN C. CARTER

LOVELOCK(AP)— Gwendolyn Celia Carter, publisher of the Lovelock Review-Miner and the Nevada Rancher, died Monday in Portland, Ore., after a long battle with breast cancer. She was 57.

Carter was born in Portland and started her news career in Oregon. She worked for a newspaper and a television station there before moving to Nevada, where she held jobs at the Humboldt Sun in Winnemucca and the Review-Miner.

Carter, who was involved in all aspects of the publication business, purchased the Review-Miner in 1991 and acquired the Nevada Rancher in 1999.

She earned numerous Nevada Press Association awards over the years for her photographic and journalistic work.

Carter lived in Lovelock for 20 years. During that time, she and her late husband, Lawrence, farmed and raised their three sons. She was involved in many local service organizations.

In 2006, Carter moved to Portland to be near her family, continuing to work on her Nevada publications despite failing health.

MR. JAMES F. COONEY

James F. (Frank) Cooney, 80, a former resident of Lovelock died Monday July 21, 2008, at Humboldt General Hospital. He was born on Dec. 10, 1927 at Condon. Ore. to William and Grace Walker Cooney.

He worked for Pershing County Road Department and as supervisor of the road department from 1969 to 1975 and retired after many years service. He also worked in the capacity of Humboldt County Road supervisor.

He and his brothers were involved with Cooney Bros. Mining. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and being with his family.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, sisters; Norberta Farnham, Leona Cannon, and Brother John Cooney. He was married to Carol Johnson on Nov. 3, 1948.

He is survived by his wife Carol of Winnemucca, daughter Cheryl Costa (Joseph) of Tooele, Utah, son James Cooney (Jerry) of Elko, brother Bill Cooney of Battle Mountain and sister Drucilla McKinnon of Lovelock, grandchildren James Cooney, Joani Charlebois, Carl Alexander, Corey Alexander, Justin Costa and Jana Tobias and seven greatgrandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2008 at Lovelock Funeral Home Chapel.
