MR. JAMES V. WADE

James V. Wade, 91, a former resident of Winnemucca, died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008, at Pershing General Hospital.

Mr. Wade was born Nov. 22, 1916, in Ft. Worth, Texas. He was raised on a farm in Vernon, Texas, along with four brothers and one sister. After his marriage to Gladys Miles of Electra, Texas, he moved to California. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was stationed in Seoul, Korea. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Hawthorne, Calif. He left California in 1995 and moved to Oregon. From Oregon he moved to Winnemucca in 2002 and lived there very happily until May 2008 when illness resulted in a final move to Pershing General Hospital & Nursing Home in Lovelock.

He is survived by his daughters, Mary Charlotte Pierce of San Dimas, Calif., Charlene K Handel of Hawthorne, Calif, and Rebecca S. Scarberry of Winslow, Ark., and a brother Parker E. Wade of Mountain Ranch, Calif, also two grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funerai services were held on Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008, at Lovelock Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Grants Pass. Ore.

MRS. ELSIE M. WAGNER

Elsie M. Wagner, 89, longtime Winnemucca resident, passed away on Friday, Oct. 10, 2008, at Harmony Manor.

She was born in Lovelock on Jan. 27, 1919. Elsie graduated from Pershing County High School in 1937. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank in 1997. Elsie is survived by her three daughters Frances (Bob) Allega of Surprise, Ariz., Donna (Doug) Jones of Sparks, Judy (Vince) Lopes of Winnemucca, three sisters Velma Cerini of Lovelock, Lorna Sharp of Martinez, Calif., Pinky Webb of Concord, Calif., five grandsons, and 14 great grand children.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20. 2008, at the Winnemucca Senior Center, 1480 Lay St. Wmnemucca, NV 89445.

Prairie Star - March 9, 2009

MR. RONALD W. WAGNER

Ronald Wayne Wagner, 62, of Winnemucca passed away unexpectedly on Feb. 26 following a lengthy illness. He was born in Hood River, Ore., on Feb. 23, 1947, to Wayne Charles Wagner and Eva McKinley Wagner, who precede him in death. Ron proudly served his country, volunteering for three tours of duty during the Viet Nam conflict, and received many distinguished medals. He was a proud member of the local VVA. Everyone knew him by his license plate Seabees, which he was proud to put on all of his vehicles. Ron enjoyed his morning coffee with friends at the Model T daily.

Following his discharge from the service he returned to Reno to marry the love of his life, Kathleen Holt Wagner. They were married for 35 years. They relocated to Winnemucca 30 years ago for a safe haven to raise their son. Ron worked at the Winners Inn Casino for number of years and bartended at Butch Cassidy's until his disabilities caught up with him and he was forced to retire. Although it was difficult for him he continued to do what he loved, which was fishing, and riding his ATV. He loved the scouting trips and stories of old Winnemucca and Paradise Valley with Uncle Bill and Uncle Leonard. Ron enjoyed being a part of the Northern Nevada ATV Club and cherished the memories of all the rides they took.

Ron is survived by his wife Kathleen, his sons Ronald Wagner Jr., of Fernley, R. Kristopher David Wagner of Winnemucca, his brother and best friend Rocky (Kathy) Wagner of Reno, sisters Judy Cleveland (Wayne) of California and Priscilla (Bobby) Fassler of Oregon, sister in laws Mary Fenton (Harvey) of Paradise Valiey, Linda (Dave) Lee of Grover, Wyo., and numerous nieces and nephews. Ron is also survived by his cherished friends Harold and Peggy Robison of Winnemucca who were always a phone call away during difficult times.

His wife Kathy thanks the Sheriff's Office for their quick response, support and all of the offers for assistance in this difficult time. Ron always said this is a great place to live mostly because of the giving and caring people. Their will be a celebration of life at the Paradise Valley Saloon on March 14 at 1 p.m. His ashes will be scattered at a later time.

MRS. RUTH E. WALTHER

Ruth came into this world on Terminal Island, Calif., on Jan. 23, 1915,, during a tidal wave. Her parents were Lydia and Jesse Renfro. There were only two families left on the island: Ruth's and the one helping her with her birth. Everyone else had been evacuated.

She went to live with God on Thursday Sept. 11, 2008. She was in the Humboldt General Hospital in Winnemucca when she died.

Ruth moved with her family from California to Tuscarora when she was 6 years old. After several years, the family moved to Battle Mountain, where she spent the rest of her childhood.

Ruth met and married Rees William Walther on April 24, 1930, in Winnemucca. They had six children; the fourth one died at birth. The five surviving children are: Robert Walther and wife Pat from College Place, Wash., Pat Quilici and husband Jerry in Winnemucca, John Walther and wife Sandy from Wallowa Lake, Ore., Randy Walther and wife Cheryl in Winnemucca and Dean Walther in Winnemucca.

She had 14 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, mother, father, two sisters and four brothers. She is survived by two brothers; Horace Renfro of American Falls, Idaho, and Barney Renfro of Portland, Ore., and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ruth had her own florist business for many years in the late forties and early fifties. She waited tables at the Griddle and the Hotel Humboldt in the late 1950s and early 1960s until she and her daughter Pat opened the Playhouse Childcare Center on April 1, 1963.

Ruth was the Playhouse Grandma to thousands of Winnemucca's children for 45 years. She cared for them, cooked for them and taught them pre-school.

She was still teaching the Preschool Activities in December of 2007. She received numerous awards as art outstanding Business Woman. Among them: one from the Business and Professional Women's Club, she was the Woman of the Year for the State of Nevada and honored by President and Mrs. Bush on her 90th Birthday. She was in the 1992-1993 Edition of Who's Who.

Her Rosary Service will be on Tuesday, Sept. 16,2008, at 7p.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church and the funeral service will be on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church.

Donations may be given to the Ruth Walther Memorial Fund at the U.S. Bank in Winnemucca.

MRS. MARIE WARDELL

Marie Laca Clausen McDade Wardell died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007, in Reno. She was 98. She founded and ran Marie’s Flower Shop in Winnemucca for 30 years until she retired in 1984. Marie was born in Golconda to Pedro Laca (of Spain) and Domenica Gastelecutto (of France). She was preceded in death by sisters Anita Bathos and Evelyn Rutherford, brother Peter J. Laca, sons Donnie Clausen and James R. McDade, and grandchildren Lynn Marfisi and Raymond McDade.

Among her many accomplishments was acting as first president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary #487 in Winnemucca beginning on Feb. 9, 1947. Marie recruited all the members from both Winnemucca and Lovelock.

She is survived by her sisters Emelie Dillon and Marguerite Fagg of Winnemucca; daughter, Mary Jane Marfisi and her husband Frank of Reno; grandchildren Dawn Marfisi Williams and her husband Bob of Reno; Dan Marfisi and his wife Nancy of Los Angeles; Patrick McDade and his wife Jennifer of Conewango Valley, N.Y.; Shannan Hunewill and her husband Doug of Winnemucca; Elisa McDade (widow of Raymond McDade) of Winnemucca. Great grandchildren include Lela, Sara & Josh Williams of Reno; Linda & Chris Marfisi of Los Angeles; Donald, Ama & Meara McDade, Savanna and James W. McDade of Winnemucca; Melissa and Kylie Hunewill of Winnemucca. Marie is also survived by niece Susan Bathos Gavica and her husband Richard of Paradise Valley with daughters Annie & Alaina.

The funeral will be held at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Winnemucca on Tuesday, Oct. 2. Rosary at 10:30 a.m. with mass to follow at 11 a.m. The burial will take place at Winnemucca Cemetery. Reception will be held in Father Zavby Hall.

The family would like everyone who helped with her care since she was hospitalized in July as well as Regent Care, Kings Row Residence and Circle of Life Hospice. Donations in her name can be made at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Winnemucca and Circle of Life Hospice in Reno.

MRS. ANNA M. WARR-BOTTS

Anna Mae Warr-Botts passed away at her home in New Plymouth, Idaho, on Oct. 13, 2007, after a short battle with cancer.

She was born May 31, 1933, at the Holy Rosary Hospital, in Ontario, Ore., to Carl Andrew and Vernice Olson-Mogensen. She was raised on the family farm in Fruitland, Idaho, where she attended school, graduating from Fruitland High School in 1952.

Anna Mae married William Sherrill Warr in Twin Falls, Idaho, in 1958, their first child, a daughter, Kimberly Marie, was born in Ontario, Ore., in 1959.

The couple moved to Danbury, Iowa, where William worked as a ranch hand. There were two boys born in Iowa, William Arthur, and Andrew Griffith, in 1963 and 1965, respectively. After four years in Iowa, the couple moved back to Idaho where William S. worked for Carl Mogensen.

The couple divorced in 1969. Anna Mae continued to live in Fruitland, where she raised her children alone. In 1973 Anna Mae moved with her sons to Weiser, where she worked for the city of Weiser for the next 17 years.

After retiring in 1990, she married David Grant, and was divorced the next year. In 1994 she moved in with Gene Botts of New Plymouth, Idaho, where she lived happily for the rest of her life.

Throughout her life Anna Mae enjoyed her volunteer work with the T.O.P.S. group, and her handy crafts, such as crocheting afghans and other items. She was also a keeper of the family history for the Mogensen family and the Olson family.

Anna Mae is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Neil Andrew Mogensen, and her sister, Carlotta Mogensen-Evans. She is survived by her younger sister, Marilyn Marie Weinand of North Carolina, and her children, Kimberly M. Arns, her husband Carl Arns, son William A. Warr, his wife Tina Warr, son Andrew G. Warr, his wife Audrey and daughters Stacy Lee, all of Winnemucca and Janelle Marie and Jesse Wright, stationed in New York. Her niece Sharon Marie Maiden and husband Les, their children Marcus and Melissa, of Nampa, Idaho, her Aunt and Uncle, Barbara and Louie Attebery of Caldwell, Idaho, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services will be at the United Presbyterian church at 1712 W. Idaho St. in Ontario, Ore., at 2 p.m. Donations may be made to the X. L. Hospice, 2480 Hwy. 52, Payette, Idaho.

MR. WALTER E. WASHABAUGH

After a long battle with arteriosclerosis, Walter Elwin Washabaugh left us on May 29, 2008, at St. Mary's in Reno.

Born to Eiwin Scott Washabaugh and Vera Ethel Winders in Richmond, Calif., on July 26, 1936.

He left behind his wife Beverly June Spillings Washabaugh, daughter Kimberley Hope Shipman, son Lane Scott all of Winnemucca, son Aaron Nathau of Gardnerville, sisters Wilma Jean Wise of Red Bluff, Calif., and Janet Loui Washabaugh of Woodland, Calif. Walt was graced with six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Also left behind Tumerous nieces and nephews.

Walt grew up around Knotsville, Monticello, Woodland and Winters, Calif.

Having been a member of operating Engineers Union Lot #3 for nearly 44 years, Walter earned his living as heavy equipment operator, perfection at what he did. There will be no memorial service as family and friends will celebrate his life at a later date.

MISS LACEY L. WATSON

Lacey Lynn Dougherty Watson (b. 1958 -d. 2009)
Lacey Lynn Dougherty Watson passed away at her home in Winnemucca on April 21, 2009. Lacey was born on March 24, 1958, in Burlington, Wash., to Bonnie and D. Deane Dougherty.

Lacey worked in agriculture and ran the family farm after her father's retirement. She received her Mota Engine Rated Pilots License in 1985 and graduated from Trend Business College in 1989. Most recently, Lacey was living in Nevada, working as a dealer and professional poker player. Additionally, she was working toward the renewal of her pilots license and was a member of the Civil Air Patrol.

Lacey had three children whom she loved and appreciated dearly. She will be remembered as a loving mother, sister and daughter. Her quick wit, intelligence and many talents enabled her to do most anything she put her mind to. An extremely creative person, Lacey loved to draw and paint. She also enjoyed writing, completed several novels and was working on another. In addition to flying, Lacey was an accomplished sky diver. She loved animals and normally had a menagerie of assorted pets around. She loved playing poker, a good movie and laughter. Lacey was a unique and remarkable person. She will be greatly missed by those who knew her.

Lacey is survived by her father D. Deane Dougherty of Othello, Wash.; her mother Bonnie Curtis of Port Ludlow, Wash.; her son Dane Michael Herrin of Portland, Ore., and her daughters Scarlett Anne and Sarah Elizabeth McKernan of Othello, Wash.; her brother James Deane Dougherty of Renton, Wash., and her sister Sherri Susan Dougherty of Rome, Italy; and her step-sister Rhonda Hoots of Othello, Wash.

A celebration of Lacey's life was held at Scootney Lake, Othello, Wash., Saturday the 9th of May at 4 p.m.

MR. JAMES M. WATTERSON

James Mitchell Watterson, 55, of Winnemucca was called home to a loving Heavenly Father on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010. He lived the last 15 years in Winnemucca while dealing with the effects of a brain tumor. His mind was sharp and strong as his body weakened.

He was born March 27, 1954. in the army hospital at Fort Hood, Texas, to Jack Thompson Watterson and Verna Martineau Watterson. He was the oldest of twelve children and preceded in death by two brothers. He grew up in southern Utah and graduated high school in Green River, Utah in 1973. He continued his education at the Utah Technical College in Provo, Utah, and earned a degree in heavy equipment mechanics. He worked at various mines around Nevada and Utah until accepting employment in February 1985 at the Tonopah Test Site. In March of 1995 he was diagnosed with a brain tumor.

He was an active member of the LDS Church and served a mission in Australia. He served in various callings in the church, including Sunday school teacher, nursery assistant and ward financial clerk. He was married to his wife, Linda in the Salt Lake Temple in 1981.

He took great delight in playing with his children. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and other outdoor activities. He loved to travel and took special care of his motor home. He had a green thumb and worked wonders with yard and garden. He always found ways to be active with his family, in his church service and with his many hobbies despite effects of his disability. In the last few years, he was grateful for the care of the local hospice and looked forward to the bus trips to the senior center for lunches.

He was proceeded in death by his brothers, Kenneth and William. He is survived by his wife, Linda; his son, .Mitchell; his daughters, Jamie, Tiffany, and Holly. He is also survived by his parents, Jack and Verna Watterson, his siblings, Jaclynne (Randy), Mark (Jeanne), Katherine (Gary), Diane (Will), Jay (Deirdre), Tamara (Jeff), RuthAnn, Ronald. Jack Jr "Tom" and sister-in-law, Beth Anne, mother and father-in-law, Irene and Dwayne Conn, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010, at the LDS Stake Center in Winnemucca followed by interment at the Winnemucca cemetery.

MRS. RUTH A. WEBSTER

Ruth Ann Webster, 59, of Winnemucca, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2009. She was born in Concordia, Kan. on Oct. 13, 1949, to Joe and Helen Jindra. She attended Simpson, Kansas High School and Ft. Hays State College in Hays, Kan. She grew up in Simpson, Kan., and previously lived in Aravada, Colo., and has spent the last 19 years in Winnemucca.

She worked for Winnemucca Farms for the past 17 years. Ruth loved gardening and four-wheeling. She had a love of life and was a great mother and friend.

She is survived by her husband, Larry Webster; son Toby Webster; sister and brother-in-law Marcia and Dave McCanslin; brother and siser-in-law, Joe and Maria Jindra, father-in-law, Harry Webser; niece Sarah Jindra and a nephew, Eric Jindra.

She was preceded in death by a son, Travis Lee Webster.

A viewing for family and friends will be held from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at the Albertson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2009, also at the Albertson Funeral Home. Burial will take place in the Winnemucca Cemetery immediately following the service.

MRS. JENNIFER D. WHEELWRIGHT

Jennifer Dawn Wheelwright entered into rest April 29, 2010. She grew up in Winnemucca with her sister Vicki. During her years in Nevada she became an accomplished artist both professionally and personally. She was also a professional costumer and recently took up nail artistry.

More then a year ago she relocated to Ogden, Utah, where she met and married Daniel Wheelwright. He joined her in her favorite hobbies; re-enacting at civil war events, Mtn men rendezvous and renaissance fairs.

Jennifer's loved ones left behind include her sister Vicki Tyler of Boise, Idaho, her parents Lester and Regina Smith, her maternal grandparents Melvin and Marjorie Leiske in California. She has three aunts and numerous cousins. Her nieces include Tasha Hampton, Jasmine Voina and Kendra Yates all from Idaho. She has one each great niece and nephew. Her children so important in her life, are Sid Starbuck of Elko, Drew Green and Forrest Lisenbee of Winnemucca.

Memorial services will be May 21, 2010, at 3:30 p.m., Albertson Funeral Home 47 W. First St., Winnemucca.

MRS. MAJORIE R. WEGNER

Marjorie Ruth Wegner, 67, went home to be with her Lord, Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2007. Marge was born March 23, 1940, in American Falls, Idaho, to Rowe and Ella Bolton.

She grew up in American Falls, Idaho, and married her high school sweetheart, Daniel Wegner, on June 24, 1956. They were married 51 years.

Marge and Dan owned and operated ranches in Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Oklahoma and Nebraska. She was a partner of the family “Ten Mile Ranch,” a woman, who walked beside her husband not behind him with wisdom and grace, whether it was family or business.

She was noted for extensive record keeping in all aspects of the ranch. She loved horseback riding and tending the cattle, horses and dogs.

In addition to the ranch, Marge’s hobbies included listening to her family’s gospel singing, cooking, gardening, sewing and knitting. She was also a successful Avon representative in American Falls and served in the voting polls. Marge was the secretary treasurer of the Homemaker’s Club in McDermitt, and was selected as “Homemaker of the Year” for Nevada. She was a member of the “Friends of the Library” in McDermitt.

Marge is survived by her husband Dan; their three children and spouses, Sherry (Blame) Leisy of Post Falls, Idaho, Terry (Patti) Wegner of Cody, Neb., and Tammy (Rex) Mayer of Salt Lake City, Utah; grandchildren Ryan (Abby) Leisy of Post Falls, Michelle Leisy (Andy) Cline of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Thane Wegner serving in the U.S. Army in Iraq, Amy Wegner (Rama) Kho of Denver, Colo, Cody (Linzy) Officer of Cody, Zane Officer of Louisville, Ky., and Kendall Mayer of Salt Lake City; great grandchildren Owen Leisy, Wil Leisy, and Jaben Cline; her mother Ella Bolton of American Falls, Idaho; and sister Dorothy Rice of Pollock Pines, Calif.

Her father, Rowe Bolton, and siblings, Elaine and James preceded her in death.

Marge was a role model of a Christian loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and friend. She touched the hearts and lives of those around her and was beloved by many.

Funeral services are pending in American Falls, Idaho.

MRS. KATHRYN M. SMITH WEIKEL

KATHRYN MARIE SMITH WEIKEL 1919-2010
Born Kathryn Marie Smith in Winneraucca on 7-5-1919 to Irwin and Marie Smith of Trout Creek Canyon, Ore. Known as "Dixie" throughout her childhood, she attended one-room schoolhouses on Trout Creek and in Denio as well as brief stints at Winnemucca Grammar School and Battle Mountain Grammar School. She graduated high school from Crane Union in 1936 and obtained a teaching certificate from Oregon Normal School (now Western Oregon University) in 1938.

Teaching was the love of her life, and she enjoyed every class whether teaching in McDermitt, Denio, or Winnemucca. She married Elmer Weikel of Winnemucca in 1942 and they had four children. Together they owned and operated service stations in Golconda and Winnemucca as well as a large alfalfa/potato farm in Grass Valley. Elmer was killed in a farm accident in 1962, and Kathryn continued farming and teaching for a few years.

Eventually, she became a real estate broker and operated Kay's Real Estate for several years before moving to Reno in 1988. In her later years, she became an accomplished gardener and artist while sharing her many skills with her grandchildren.

Kathryn is survived by son, Gil-Bert, and daughter-in-law, Michelle; daughters Julie Weikel of Harney County, Oregon, Kathryn Lecumberry of Winnemucca, and Susan Weikel of Fallen, 13 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and a very special friend, Kale Knittle of Fallen.

A brief memorial will be held at The Homestead on March 6th at 1:30 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Homestead of Fallen or XL Hospice Inc. of Fallen will be much appreciated.

A memorial celebration will be held at a later date in Winnemucca to honor Kathryn's life.

Mae Grace Tobrocke Weiss
Colorado Springs, Colo.
Advanced age and a deteriorating valve In her heart overcame her will to live and Mae passed away Jan. 30, 2009.

Mae was born of Frank and Bertha Inez Moore Tobrocke in Portland, Ore., in 1910. She grew up in Elgin, Ore., the second of three daughters, Florence the oldest, now deceased and Myrtle the youngest. She married Lloyd Rinehait and raised two children, stepdaughter Carol Rinehart Sutton and son Jack.

Mae loved growing flowers and was complemented for their beauty in every community she lived. She later became an avid rock hound with her husband, Orville K. Weiss, now deceased. She belonged to the Silver State Chapter No. 6, Order of the Eastern Star, Winnemucca, NV, the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks.

She is survived by her son Jack, daughter-in-law Rachel, grandson David; grandchildren Merilee Sutton Huntsucker, Ron and Steven Sutton.

MRS. OPAL "Smitty" WELLMAN

On July 25, 2007, Opal “Smitty” Wellman, 88, died peacefully in the presence of loved ones. She was born on Nov. 23, 1918, in Somerton, Ariz., and later moved with her family to Imperial Valley, Calif.

Fittingly, it was in southern California, at the close of World War II, that Opal met and fell for a sailor named Donald Wellman who, by chance, had gone with his brother to a dental office where she was working.

Donald, who lovingly cared for her to the very end, never left her side. They were married 58 years, had many an adventure with their seven grandchildren and were blessed with an additional nine great-grandchildren.

An avid collector of and an authority on antique fruit jars, Opal was a member of the Reno Bottle Club, Federation of Historical Bottle Collectors and toured the country in pursuit of her hobby. Her travels also included many an outing to explore the mining camps and ghost towns of the American West and the Anazai Indian ruins in Colorado. At a time when many people slow down and pursue a more relaxed pace of life, Opal took in the ancient wonders of China when she was in her 70’s, and, not to be outdone, experienced the natural wonders of the Galapagos Islands when she was in her 80’s.

Opal is survived by her husband Donald, her son Lonnie Wellman (Lynn), her daughter Merleen Wambolt (Gene), Ron Reid (Val), by her grandchildren Carson Wellman, Kendall Eickmeyer (Todd), Morgan Wellman, Mariah Wellman, Mike Wambolt (Gayle), Tara Durski (Brad), and Bryant Wambolt, and her great-grandchildren Dakota, Syerra, Evan, Colby, Kylie, Mariah Rose, Megan, Mitchell, and Maia.

A special “Thank You” to Mary Orr and Lynn Troike, God Bless you both.

Though gone forever, Opal’s legacy and memory are stronger than ever. “Smitty,” you will be missed.

Katie Louise Hutson-Welshonse Feb 21, 1983 - Nov 17, 2009.
Katie Welshonse passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 17, from complications from brain trauma. She was 26 years old. Katie was the only daughter of D.W. and Theresa Hutson. She was born in Winnemucca and spent most of her life as a Nevada resident.

She graduated from Pershing County High School in 2001 with honors. She was married to Jon Welshonse in 2002 at St Paul's Lutheran Family in Carson City. She was an avid reader and lover of long baths. She enjoyed spending time with her pets, playing Nintendo and writing stories. She was deeply religious and her faith in God never wavered.

She is survived by her Husband Jon Welshonse, her father D.W. Hutson and her brothers Zachary and Lucas Hutson. As well as a long extended family of cousins, aunts and uncles, and friends.

She was deeply loved and will be deeply missed. She was preceded in death by her mother Theresa Hutson. Memorial Services will be held on Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009, at St. Paul's Lutheran Family, 1201 N Saliman Road Carson City, NV 89701. In lieu flowers it is requested that you make a donation to the charity of your choice.

MR. NOEL WHELAN

Noel Whelan, a very kind and brilliant man, turned 82 on Dec. 23. He passed away on Jan. 23 of this year in Reno.

Noel was a Merchant Marine until he became old enough to join the Army. He was a World War II Veteran and earned a Bronze Star and Purple Heart for serving our country.

In addition to love of country, in his 70s, Noel procured a computer and quickly learned how to use it as was evidenced by the many e-maiis he sent to his cohorts.

He also loved reading history books, his cats and his friends. Noel will be greatly missed by all who knew him in Winnemucca.

MRS. ROSALIE D. WHITE

God has chosen another flower for his garden. Rosalie Dorita White was born in Bakersfield, Calif., on August 31, 1940 and lived in various cities of California in younger years. Rose moved to Reno in late 70's then to Imlay in 1997 where she resided. Rose fought a year long illness that she finally lost to. She passed away on March 1, 2010.

Rose was a loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother. Rose loved crafts and was great at it, Raggedy Ann & Andy was a favorite, she liked to work outdoors and liked to bake, "famous for her HUGE cinnamon rolls" grandkids favorite.

Rose is preceded in death by husband, Joseph E. White and both parents, Huilet J. Wiggins and Violet A. Wiggins and Great grandson Sean White.

Rose is survived by sister, Nancy M. Cain of Doyle, Calif, brother Marvin Wiggins of Winnemucca, her four children Danny P. White of Canby, Ore., Donald J. White of Imlay, Tina M. Schauer of Imlay, and Denny D. White of Winnemucca. 13 grandchildren, Andy, Melissa, Amanda, Casey, Allisha, Sasha, R.J., Brandon, Manny, Matthew, Robert, Dakota and Catrina, 5 Great grandchildren iMyka, Kody, Aden, Jadyn and Tessa, and loving nieces and nephews.

Rose will be missed,by all family and friends she loved life and would have like to live life longer, she can rest now and be with the Lord.

Services will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2010, at 1 p.m. at Imlay Baptist Church 420 Main St. in Imlay. Family invites all to gather after services to share stories and reminisce. The family would like to thank the staff at Humboldt General Hospital for their loving care of mom.

Sean Christopher White, age 7 months, received his wings on July 30, 2007.

Sean is survived by his mother; Melissa Stickley and father Steven Fisher; brothers Myka Stickley, Kody Stickley and Aden White; grandparents Dan White and Michelle Smith; great-grandparents Rosalie White and Patricia March.

Sean’s services were held on Aug. 4, 2007, at noon in Mill City. Albertson Funeral Home was in charge of private cremation arrangements.

MRS. LORETTA B. A. WILLIAMS

Loretta Bette Anne Williams passed away at her home in Winnemucca on Sept. 10, 2009. She was born to Raye and Debra Williams on Nov. 25, 1972, in Yuba City, Calif. They moved to Craig, Colo., when she was a baby. Loretta grew up in Craig, Colo., with her sister and brother. Moving to Winnemucca in 2003 making it her home.

She was proceeded in death by her mother Debra Williams.

She is survived by her Fiance Douglas Lloyd, her children: Christopher, Brandon, Alexander and Debra Tomey of Winnemucca. Her sister Nicole Williams, brother Brandon Williams, nephew Peter Schaefer and stepfather Mark Castonguay all from Arizona, and numerous family members and friends.

Memorial service will be held on Sept. 19, 2009, at 5 p.m. at the Grass Valley Baptist Church located at 4150 W. Thomas Canyon Road in Winnemucca.

We love her and she will be greatly missed.

MR. MARVIN L. WILSON

Marvin Lee "Sam" Wilson
Marvin Wilson, 77, of Golconda, died on July 7, in Bountiful, Utah. He had fought a three-year battle with kidney disease.

Marv was born in North Platte, Neb., to Edward and Ruby (Oestriech) Wilson on Feb. 2, 1930.

He attended school in North Platte and Nyssa, Ore.

Sam had a lifelong love of hunting; he spent many youthful days hunting waterfowl with his father and friends and enjoyed many elk and deer hunting adventures.

Marvin joined the Navy in 1948 and spent time in the Aleutian Islands on the U.S.S. Boxer before seeing battle in the Korean War.

He married Carole Flinders in 1952 and they had seven children. The Wilson family lived in Nyssa, Roseburg, Jordan Valley and Burns, Ore.

In 1975, Sam married Juanita (Kennedy) Katzenburger and traveled many places about the western states while working construction. After tiring of travel, Marvin ended up living in Winnemucca to be close to his son Ed.

Marv served a lifetime career in law enforcement starting in 1953, working various jobs from prison guard at the Oregon State Penitentiary, State Brand Inspector/Maiheur County sheriff deputy, police officer and chief of police in Burns and was a deputy sheriff in Harney County. He retired in 1988 from Humboldt County law enforcement as a deputy and jailer.

After retiring, Sam enjoyed the life of a buckaroo and lived at the ranch bunkhouse where you could find him out on his horse with his dog working cows.

Marv was a 37-year life member of the Burns Elks Lodge and at one time held the honor of the “Elk of the Year.” He was also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Marvin Wilson is survived by his sister Clara Shaw and husband Jim of Nyssa, Ore.; children, Janalee Wilson of Aloha, Ore.; Jeredee Reynolds Gibson and husband John of North Salt Lake, Utah; Jonee Vanderdasson and husband Tod of Hines, Ore.; daughter in law, Anna Snapp of Winnemucca; John Wilson of West Valley City, Utah; Juice Vanderdasson and husband Ted of The Dalles, Ore.; and Jaimee Langston and husband Jerry of Nampa, Idaho. He is also survived by grandchildren David, Erica and Trevor Gillies; Kori and Cameron Reynolds; Ashley Vanderdasson; Nichole and Dakota Langston. Marv also had two great-grandchildren, Travis James and Kylee, and three nephews.

Sam also leaves behind good friends Sara Brewer, Nancy Rosasco and all of his ranch family and friends.

Sam was welcomed in Heaven by his mom and dad, Ruby and Edward J. Wilson; son Edward Jay Wilson II; son-inlaw Glen Reynolds; and grandson Travis Vanderdasson.

Marv’s ashes will be interred in the Burns Cemetery at a graveside memorial on Saturday, July 14, at 10:30 a.m. Friends are invited to attend and share their memories of Sam.

MR. JAMES ROBERT WOODS

In celebration of the life of our beautiful husband, brother, father, and friend. Jim passed away peacefully at home with his loved ones at his side on Thursday, March 25, 2010, after a long battle with cancer.

He was born Jan. 18, 1950, in Carson City, where he was raised, he joined the Army in 1968 and spent 13 ,months in Vietnam.

Jim became a master carpenter and certified welder whose work with wood and ornamental iron were unparalleled. He retired and moved to Winnemucca in 2004.

Jim's kind heart, sharp wit and unique sense of humor will leave an empty space in many lives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett Woods and Edna Vincent. He is survived by his wife, Jo Woods, his brothers, Jerry Woods and John Woods, sister Jeanne Crawford, son Nicholas Woods, daughter Renee Woods, his step-children, John Walsh, Rob Wietenstiener, Sara Ruppelhus, and step-grandchildren, J.J Walsh, Tami Walsh, Conner Walsh, Rob Walsh, Erika and Shaina Ruppellius and Kadence Wietenstiener.

MRS. RUTH E. WOOLEY

Ruth E. Wooley graduated on to glory at Harmony Manor in Winnemucca on Sept. 3, 2009. She was born on March 7, 1921, in Knox City, Texas. She was the first of seven children born to Marshall L. and Ella Mae (Sally) Wooley.

Ruth was educated in the Knox City schools. She started at an early age working in restaurants, and later owned several restaurants in various places, including Gerlach. She also worked for Civil Service, and Formica Corporation. Ruth moved to Winnemucca in 1996 to live with her daughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, one son (Bobby Childress) and three granddaughters.

Ruth is survived by daughter Modene (Earl) Smiraldo of Winnemucca; daughter Barbara (Walter) Hopping of Doyle, Calif; son Kenneth Childress of Paradise, Calif.; sister Judy (Mike) Anderson of Reno; sister Dorothy (Ike) Quintana of Shingletown, Calif.; sister-in-law Vera Wooley; as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grand-children, nieces and nephews.

A, memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church at 5th and Garrison streets, Winnemucca, on Sept. 12, 2009, at 10 a.m., as well as a brief memorial service at Mountain View Mortuary, 425 Stoker Ave., Reno, on Sept. 17, 2009, at 1 p.m. where her remains will finally be laid to rest near several family members.

Box 7, Winnemucca, NV 89446, or to the Winnemucca Animal Shelter through the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office, Attn: Darlene Thon, 50 West 5th St., Winnemucca, NV 89445.
