MS FELICIA GABICA

Felicia Gabica, 91, died May 12, 2010, at the Harmony Manor in Winnemucca after a short illness. Services were held Monday, May 17, 2010, at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Winnemucca.

Felicia was born May 15, 1918, in Ereno, Viscaya, Spain to Daniel and Constancia Bengochca Gabica. She was born an American citizen because both parents were citizens at the time. Felicia came to the USA, Dec. 22, 1918, at the age of 10 months. After moving to the United States, she and her family made their home at the Rock Creek Ranch in Orovada. She attended Ogden's School for the Deaf as a child. As an adult she move to Winnemucca and lived there for the remainder of her life. She worked many years at Winnemucca Laundry, Park Motel, Winnemucca Hotel and Downtown Motel. Felicia was a proud member of St. Paul's Catholic Church. Her interests included family, gardening and crocheting. Although she was hearing disabled, she was always pleased to visit with company, enjoyed working hard, and was always a cheerful person. Sitting on her front lawn with her family, watching parades on Winnemucca Boulevard, was a highlight for both her and the children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel & Constancia Gabica; brother, Joseph (WWII); brother, Daniel (Juanita) and brother, Raymond. She is survived by her sister, Mary Bengoa; Sister-in-Law, Donna Gabica, nieces and nephews; and many grand/great nieces and nephews.

MR. RAYMOND GABICA, SR.

Our Dad passed way on April 21, 2010, in Winnemucca, where he has recently been living the past 8 years after 23 years at the Paradise Ranches.

He was born on the Rock Creek Ranch, Orovada, on Nov. 12, 1920, to Daniel and Constancia (Bengoachea) Gabica, Sr. He spent his life in the joy of working cattle and sheep, running ranches in the Elko County, Humboldt County areas and Southeast Oregon. Many residents of Humboldt County will remember him on a grader, which he drove for the county for over 17 years.

Dad was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers, Joe and Dan, Jr. Dad is survived by his wife Donna (Norcutt) Gabica of Winnemucca, his two sons, Joe (Ann) Gabica of Sparks and Raymond Gabica, Jr. of Macbmb, Illinois, grand sons Christopher (Kristin) Gabica of Sparks and Daniel (Alissa) Gabica, great-grandchildren Byron, Madilyn and Jillian Gabica of Reno. Stepsons, Blane (June) Schaffer, and Brian "Burr" (Joan) Schaffer and grandchildren, Tara, Ty, Bodrie, Colleen, and great grandchild, Logan.

Surviving siblings include Felicia Gabica and Mary Bengoa of Winnemucca, and numerous cousins (Angela Mentaberry and Phillip Gabica of Winnemucca, John (Gene) Gabica of Emmet, Idaho, and numerous nieces & nephews and "many relatives still in the old country."

For those who wish to make donations, the family requests that donation in memory of Raymond Gabica, Sr., be made to the charity of their choice.

We are respecting our Dad's request that his remains be cremated and that no services be held. Or, in his own words, "No big mulligan." A quietly, humble man to the very end. A private ceremony will be held on the Santa Rosa Mountain Range at a later date.

MR. JOSE L. GALARZA

On Aug. 9, 2009, Jose Luis Galarza passed away surrounded by his family. Luis is survived by his wife, Ana Maria Galarza, his daughter Jadine and son Daniel, his parents Margarito and Aristea Galarza Vasquez. He is also survived by his brothers, sisters and other family members. Luis was bora in Mexico Aug. 11, 1969, and later moved to the United States, where he was known by those who knew him as a hard worker. Most recently he was employed by Idahoan Foods (Winnemucca Farms) as an electrician.

Luis loved his family and worked hard to provide for them knowing that his time on this earth was going to be, cut short after his double lung transplant in 2007. Prior to his decline he enjoyed boating and camping with his wife and children. The family is comforted by the knowledge that Luis is now with God.

Memorial services will be held Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009, at 10 a.m. in the East Hall of the Winnemucca Convention Center. MR. EDMUND GARFIELD

Edmund Garfield, 57, passed away on Aug. 14, 2009, at his residence in Valmy from natural causes.

He was born to Kelly and Ivie Garfield on May 10, 1952, in Fort McDermitt.

Edmund attended the Winnemucca school system up to Jr. High and graduated from Stewart Indian High School in Stewart. He went to Haskell Indian Junior College, in Lawrence, Kan.

Edmund was a welder by trade and worked the local mines throughout Nevada. He enjoyed fishing and the country life.

He is survived by two sons, Darren and Billy Garfield, and four grandchildren: Sativa of Reno, Amity of Carson City, Hailey of Las Vegas, and Trinity of Corning, Calif.

Memorial services are scheduled for Friday, Aug. 21, 2009, at Fort McDermitt Tribal Gym at 11 a.m.

MR. STEVEN J. GALLIAN

Steven Joseph Gallian passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born April 26, 1954, to Joseph and Onieda Gallian of Reno, Steve began his career at the age of 18 with the Nevada Bell line crew working throughout the state. In 1995 he was hired by Oregon-Idaho Utilities, a.k.a. Humboldt Telephone, as their telecommunications specialist, where he was employed until his death. He was known throughout the area for his expertise and service to the company and formed many long-lasting friendships with his customers.

Steve was a reserve police officer for the City of Winnemucca for the past 12 years and devoted countless hours to the police force. His position in the force was held in the highest regard by him as his means of giving back to his community.

He was an avid pilot, served on the Airport Board and he was instrumental in bringing the mounted police officers' group to Winnemucca.

Known as a selfless, compassionate and devoted person to many, Steve's ever-present optimism and generosity will be nissed by all.

Steven Gallian is survived by lis wife Myrna Bodily Gallian, sister Diane Gallian, Reno, laughter Sarah Gallian and grandson Isiah Robinson, Winnemucca, son Sean Gallian, Chandler, Ariz., and step-children Jeff, Megan and Katie Garijo.

Services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, at 2:30 p.m. in the East Hall of the Winnemucca Convention Center. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be sent to: Humboldt Volunteer Hospice P.O. Box 843 Winnemucca, NV 59446.

MRS. BERTHA H. GEORGE

Bertha H. George, born Dec. 5, 1918, to Harry H. and Clara H, Moore, passed away on, Oct. 26, 2008, in Winnemucca, where she had resided for the last several years. She was born and raised in Rifle, Colo. She attended the Rifle Schools Graduating from Rifle High School.

On April 23, 1936, she was married to Alfred W, George. They had four sons, Marlin, Tony, Thomas and Richard. After their marriage, they lived and farmed in Antlers, Colo., with his parents. They moved to Meeker, Colo., in 1955 where they ran the Meeker Feed Store. They sold out and moved to North Pole, Alaska in 1962. After their retirement, they moved to Kingman, Ariz., in 1976.

She was preceded in death by her husband Alfred and son Richard Neal George. She is survived by three sons Marlin (Sally), Tony and Thomas H. (Ilene) and widow of Richard (Velvet O'Sullivan), 22 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Also a niece Carolyn Sampson.

Services and burial will take place in Rifle, Colo. Albertson Funeral Home is caring for arrangements.

MRS. BEVERLY F. GERHARD

Beverly Faye Gerhard, age 71, died Dec. 16, 2007, in Reno. She was born in Athens, Ga., to Harold Huff and Sara Huff. She married George Gerhard and the couple had three boys and one girl. After George’s passing in 1972, she moved to Calistoga, Calif., where she raised the “Fantastic Four.”

She retired from her teller position at Bank of the West in Calistoga in 2003, and moved to Winnemucca to be near her family.

Beverly was a recent resident of Beehive Homes. She loved living there, and enjoyed the many wonderful people who cared for her there.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Gerhard in 1972; relatives Nell Flynn, Jim Huff, Peggy Mack and Harold Huff also preceded her.

She is survived by her sons and daughter, Ray Gerhard of Clearlake, Calif., Tom (Katie) Gerhard and Lynel Gerhard, all of Victor, Mont., and Don (Shelly) Gerhard of Winnemucca; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

There will be a family gathering in the spring to remember Bev’s life. She was cremated in Carson City with Albertson Funeral Home handling the arrangements.

MR. MARK T. GILBRAITH

Mark Thomas Gilbraith, age 45, died Aug. 8, 2008, in St. Johns Hospital, Springfield, Mo., of natural causes with his best friend Rick Whitaker at his side.

Mark was born Dec. 31,1962, in Reno to Thomas and Minnie Gilbraith. He was raised and attended schools in Winnemucca. He graduated from the Mechanical Plant Maintenance Program at Boise State University in 1983. He worked for many years as a mechanic.

Mark loved the outdoors. He especially loved to fish and build airplanes. He loved to go to Lucky Peak and Arrowrock Reservoir. He was a great cat lover and especially enjoyed his two cats Hazel and Cody, which he considered to be his family.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Minnie Gilbraith. Mark is survived by his sister and brother-in-law Cathy and Greg Hall, his niece and nephew Katrina and Richard Hall and numerous cousins, and his good friend Rick Whitaker.

Your struggle is now over and you are now at peace with our Savior Jesus Christ. You will always be with us in our hearts. A celebration of Mark's life will be done at a later date.

MRS. ELLA N. GILLESPIE

Ella N. Gillespie, 79, a lifelong resident of Winnemucca, passed away at her home July 8, 2008. Ella was born in Winnemucca June 16, 1929, to Art and Kate English. She had worked at Uptown Market until she retired in 1991. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Thomas Gillespie and sister Violet Ward of Yerington.

She is survived by her children; son Thomas Gillespie and Bob (Shawna) Gillespie of Winnemucca; daughters Ruth (Don) Cooke of Placerville, Calif.. Judy (Mike) Black of Winnemucca; Grandsons, Mike Stump of Placerville, Calif. Thomas Gillespie of Winnemucca and Scott Gillespie of Reno. Arthur English (Brother) and sister Kathryn (Roy) Harper. MR. DONALD R. GLASGOW

Donald R. Glasgow, beloved son, father and grandfather passed away Feb. 9, 2010, in Carson City. Don was born in Winnemucca Sept. 28, 1960. Where he grew up and graduated from Lowry High School in 1978.

On New Years Eve 1983 he married Barbara J. Mayfield and became a father to her three children. Soon after they moved to Bullhead City, Ariz., where he worked construction and enjoyed coaching little league baseball for many years. In 1985 he became a grandpa, a role that he excelled in.

He spent his time with his family riding jet skis on the lake and on the river. He also loved taking them on camping and hunting trips.

His casino career that started at Harrah's Laughlin brought him to Reno in 1998. Living in Reno closer to family allowed him to be involved in all his nieces and nephews lives. Don enjoyed traveling to their many activities, especially his nephews' rodeo, football, wrestling and baseball events.

Don leaves behind his loving mother, Patricia Glasgow and Mike Huttman; his two brothers Jim & Lori Glasgow, Sam Glasgow and his sister, Debi Tiske; and many nieces and nephews all from Winnemucca; his three children Katrina, Jose, Racquel and their mother Barbara J Glasgow; and his eight grandchildren Kara. Tiffany, Dusty, Josh, Jasmine, Dominic, Brianna and Kylee. He also leaves behind a dear friend to him Robin and her children.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, his father Robert Glasgow, Uncle Cliff Glasgow and younger brother Robbie Glasgow.

And so Dear Dad and Papa, our best memories to recall is the gift of your presence. The greatest gift of all.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010, at the First Baptist Church in Winnemucca.

MR. ROBERT GLASGOW

Robbie's life was cut short in a tragic accident on Feb. 1, 2010. Robbie was born and raised in Winnemucca and he graduated from Albert Lowry High School in 1994.

He then traveled often for work and then made his way back to Winnemucca where he lived at the time of his death. He was employed by Nuffer Fencing and had also, just started doing Equine Dentistry, which he really enjoyed.

He was preceded in death by his father Robert, his uncle Cliff and his grandparents. He is survived by his mother, Pat; brothers, Don, Jim (Lorrie) and Sam; and by his sister Debi Tiske. Robbie also has many extended families. Rob and Delia Nuffer and Brandon and Katie Nuffer are one of his closest. The "Ranch" was his home away from home and he loved the time he got to spend there. Rob was a very caring and loving person. He would do anything for anyone. He was a great friend to all.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to the Humboldt County High School Rodeo Club or the Lowry High School FFA. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010, at the Event Center at the Humboldt County Fairgrounds. Arrangements are under the direction of Albertson Funeral Home.

MRS. LEOTA I. GLEASON

Leota I. Gleason, 87 of Winnemucca died at her home on Saturday, June 6, 2009. A resident of Winnemucca since 2000.

She was born in Gleana, Kan., May 1, 1922, where she was raised. She is survived by her husband Robert of Winnemucca, a son Carl Hopper and daughter Patricia (Abraham) Hamm of Winnemucca and a sister Joy Dee Domer of Castaic, Calif: No services will be held at this time. Lovelock Funeral Home handled arrangements.

MR. ROBERT F. GLEASON

Robert F. Gleason, 80, of Winnemucca died on Friday, Sept. 11, 2009, at Harmony Manor. He was born Sept. 19, 1927, in Omaha, Neb. He was preceded in death by his wife Leota Gleason on June 6, 2009. He is survived by his son Dennis (Debbie) Gleason, a daughter, Sue Baltazar, two Step-children, Patricia (Abraham) Hamm of Winnemucca and Carl Hopper also of Winnemucca, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Mr. Gleason was a retired insurance adjuster for AAA.

No services are to be held at this time. Lovelock Funeral Home handled arrangements.

MR. BERNARD A. GLENNON

Bernard A. Glennon passed away peacefully in his sleep Nov. 6, 2009, in Surprise, Ariz.

He was born July 24, 1926, to Patrick and Margaret Glennon in Mackey, Idaho. He was one of 12 children.

He graduated from high school in Elko. He served in the U.S. Army in Japan and the Philippines during WWII. He met Bessie Morse in Elko and they were married Aug. 3, 1947. They ranched at the Morse (Wildhorse Ranch) with family until he moved the family to Lovelock and became partners in Carpenters Equipment. He moved to Winnemucca in 1969 and built and operated Glennon Equipment until his retirement in 1985.

He was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters and his wife of 50 years, Bessie.

He is survived by a sister Julie and brother Danny of Oregon. He is survived by his daughters, Colleen Uriguen, Beth Amos and Kathi Glennon. Six grandchildren, Joe Hill, Major Barney Hill, Jesse Hill, Gus Duncan, Taunya and Scott Spero. He also leaves behind 13 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his friend, companion LuElla Snapp. Barney was a great husband, father, granddad, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Services will be held Saturday, Nov. 14, at 2:30 p.m., at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Winnemucca. Burial at Winnemucca Cemetery will follow the mass; with a celebration of his life in the Silver State Room at the Wii nemucca Convention Center.

MR. JULIO GONZALEZ

Julio Gonzalez, 91, peacefully passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2008, at Harmony Manor in Winnemucca. Julio was born on April 12, 1916, in Rockeforte, Spain, to Mario and Asuncion Gonzalez. He married Christina Castillo on March 1, 1949, in Spain. Julio immigrated to the United States in 1952 to pursue better opportunities for his family, leaving his wife and son in Spain. Like many other Basque immigrants, Julio began work as a sheepherder.

Julio moved to Winnemucca in 1955 and shortly after his wife and son joined him. Julio worked hard at many jobs, including Getchell Mine and Hooft's Bakery, eventually retiring from his job with the Humboldt County School District in 1981.

A soft-spoken man with incredible blue eyes, Julio loved to fish and hunt, play Mus with his Basque friends and spend time with his family in Paradise Valley. One of the greatest joys in his life were his granddaughters, Lexi and Madi.

Julio is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Pedro and Sabino Gonzalez, all of Spain. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Christina, his children, Alfonso of Winnemucca, Anna Ferrari (Doug) of Reno and his grandchildren, Lexi and Madi Gonzales of Winnemucca, as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Spain.

Services will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2008, at 11 a.m. at St Paul's Catholic Church.

MR. RAMON GONZALEZ

Ramon Gonzalez, born Nov. 18, 1917, in Zapotlan Del Ray, Jalisco, Mexico, passed away Dec. 9, 2007, in Winnemucca.

Ramon grew up in Ocotlan, Jalisco, leaving there in 1957 to come to Winnemucca to join his brother Concepcion Gonzalez who had immigrated in 1926. Ramon remained in Winnemucca the rest of his life, working in yard maintenance, and was very proud that he obtained U.S. citizenship.

Born the ninth of 10 children of Hilario Gonzalez and Maria Refugio Castellanos Gonzalez, Ramon was preceded in death by his parents, eight brothers and a sister.

Six of his siblings died in the great influenza pandemic of 1918. Debilitated by diabetes, Ramon had been a resident of Harmony Manor for the past two years, where he had received excellent care. Ramon is survived by nephews Alfred and Helen Gonzalez and Glen and Tonya Gonzalez.

MRS. GERALDINE M. GRADY

Geraldine Marie Grady passed away on Tuesday Aug. 18, 2009, at the age of 46, after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

Geri was born in Lovelock on Aug. 1, 1963, and graduated from Pershing High School in 1981. She married her loving, devoted husband Tim in 1983. Geri enjoyed spending time with her family, watching drag races, boating" at Rye Patch and watching football.

Geri is survived by her husband Tim, her son Brandon, his wife Jessica and her first grandchild Dakota, daughter Michia, parents Nick and Nancy Castillo, brothers Danny, Dennis, and Nickie, a large extended family and many, many friends.

A viewing was held in Las Vagas on Friday, Aug. 21. A Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m., followed by Services at 10 a.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Winnemucca on Saturday, Aug. 29. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Geri's name to the American Cancer Society.

MR. JOHN GRIEVE

John C. Grieve, a longtime Winnemucca resident, passed away at home on July 4, 2007, of a heart attack.

John was born in Lander, Wyo., on Jan. 23, 1956. John’s childhood was spent on the JJ Ranch, on the Sweetwater River, near Lander, Wyo. John graduated from Lander Valley High School and lived with his wife and children in Lander before moving to Winnemucca. While in Lander, John was a crew chief at US Steele and was active in the Lander Valley Volunteer Fire Department. In Winnemucca, John owned Overland Welding and Repair on Rose Creek Road and was a foreman for KOCH industries. He was active in many groups, including his local union, and participated in many cancer fundraising activities.

John is survived by his wife, Alayne Washburn Grieve, his parents, John and Elizabeth Grieve of Lander, Wyo., his daughters, Tanya Grieve Johnson who lives in Salt Lake City, Utah, with her sons, Chandler and Bradley, and Chyenne Grieve, who lives in Shanghai, China, with her children, Brooklyn, Atlas and Thayer, John’s brother Preston Grieve of Winnemucca and his sister, Debra Grieve Allen of Aurora, Colo. John was preceded in death by his beloved son, John William Grieve, on Dec. 27, 1996.

John’s memorial service will be held on July 11, 2007, at 10 a.m. at Albertson Funeral Home in Winnemucca.

In lieu of flowers, friends may make a donation to the Make a Wish Foundation of Nevada, 1755 Plumb Lane, Reno, NV 89502.

John’s remains will be scattered at a later date according to his wishes. A memorial service will also be held at a later date in Lander, Wyo., with a memoriam grave stone placed in the family plot in Lander. John is so loved and will be so missed by his family and friends.

MR. ARCH D. GRILLE

Arch Dominic Grille, age 56, passed away on Feb. 8, 2009. Dominic was born to Nunzio Grillo and Mary McClintock on Dec. 5, 1952. Dominic attended high school and some culinary school. He was resident of North Vernon, Ind., for 30 years and Winnemucca for seven years. Dominic was in the Marines for seven years who after became a chef and was a member of the American Legion.

He is survived by Dolores J. Grillo, wife; Tina Marie VanDusen, Daughter; Valerie Joy Grillo, Daughter; George Flack, Stepson; Christopher, Zachery, Brianna, Chris, William, Ben, Kenyon, Quiana, Jonah, Jeremiah, and Destiny, Grandchildren.

Memorial will be held at the First Baptist Church, 6th and Garrison Street on Feb. 27 at 11 a.m. Arrangements were made by Duane J. Eaton. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Humboldt Volunteer Hospice.
