  Austin J. Kimzey, postmaster at Howard, was born in Linn County, Kansas, October 29, 1882, son of Solomon Franklin and Sarah Jane (Hutton) Kimzey.  The father was born in Marias County, Missouri, June 20, 1851, and died at Linn County, Kansas, January 12, 1932.  He was a farmer and stockman of Irish ancestry.  The mother was born in Marias County, Missouri, December 1, 1853, and died in Linn County, March 25, 1932.  Her ancestry was German.
   Austin J. Kimzey attended public schools in Elk County and one year at Emporia Teachers College. From 1901 until 1913 he taught in the public schools, and from 1913 until 1917 was county superintendent of schools, elected on the Republican ticket.  From 1917 until 1926 has been postmaster.
  In 1906 he was married to Mayme Alice McKinzie.  She was born in Montgomery County, Kansas, July 31, 1887, of Scotch descent.  Three children were born to them, an infant, who died in 1907; Vera May, born March 1908, who died in April 1908; and Dallas C., born May 15, 1909.  Dallas was a graduate of Pittsburg Teachers College in 1932.
  Mr. Kimzey is a member of the Baptist church, the Chamber of Commerce and the Masons.  He enjoys tennis.
