Lyman Ray Dudgeon, banker, was born in Howard, Kansas, July 31,
1899, son of Francis Marion and Lillie May (Campbell) Dudgeon.
His father, who was a farmer of English and Irish ancestry, was born at
Lebanon, Kentucky, November 22, 1864. His wife, who was born at
Mapleton, Kansas, August 29, 1875, was a homemaker.
In 1916 Mr. Dudgeon was graduated from the Howard grade school
and in 1920 from the Howard High school. He was active in debate
and was treasurer of his class all through high school. Later he
attended Dague Business College at Wichita.
After leaving school Mr. Dudgeon taught one year and started
working in the Howard National Bank on August 1, 1922 as
bookkeeper. He was elected assistant cashier in January 1925, and
a director in January 1929. In 1928 and again in 1930, was
elected mayor of Howard City. In 1933, he was re-elected.
His marriage to Hazel Ann Cunningham was solemnized at Cheney,
Kansas, July 6, 1924. Mrs. Dudgeon who was a school
teacher, was born at Howard, Kansas, November 19, 1898. They have
a son, Benton Eugene (birthdate has been omitted, purposely).
Mr. Dudgeon is past grand of the Odd Fellows Lodge and has been
secretary for the past six years. He is a member of the Red
Cross, the Chamber of Commerce and the First Baptist Church of Howard.
