MR. JOE R. UHIS
Joe Ray Uhis of Buckley, Wash., died in Puyallup, Wash., on April 11, 2007 at 71 years of age. Born Feb. 18, 1936 in Woodbum, Ky., as an infant moved to Kansas where he graduated in 1953 from Peru High School. Joe was preceded in death by his parents Dean and Hettie Uhis, sister Deena Uhis, and brother Jay Uhis.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ardeth Dale Uhls. He is also survived by six children, son Jason (Chentale) Uhis of Buckley, daughters Lisa (Gary) Stock of Buckley, Tammy (Stuart) Haubrich of Buckley, Donna Allison of Wilkeson, Naomi (Rod) Malast of Enumclaw, Toni (Bill) Kiel of South Prairie, 24 grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren and one greatgrandchild on the way.
Joe was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports, farming, raising cattle, and camping with his family. He first worked for Boeing then Sumner Farm and Building Supply. He then spent 30 years with Corliss and Sons until retirement.

INFANT JESSICA A. ULLUM - Submitted by Atcha Nolan
Jessica Ashlynn Ullum, four-month-old daughter of Michael Eugene and Mary Jane (Doty) Ullum, died Friday, May 22, 1992, at her home in Sedan. She was born Jan. 25, 1992, in Coffeyville.
Graveside funeral services were held Tuesday, May 26, at 2:00 p.m., in the Belknap Cemetery. Rev. Dois Nix officiated. Graves-Baird Funeral Home, Sedan, was in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her parents, one brother, Michael Tyler Ullum of Sedan; paternal grandparents, Keith and Reva Ullum of Sedan; maternal grandparents, John and Pauline Doty of Sedan; paternal great-grandparents, Carl and Reva Ullum of Potwin; maternal great-grandparents, Junior and June Doty and Alfred and Thelma McNown, all of Sedan.
Mr. ARMON O. URIE
Armon Otis Urie, age 87, of Sedan, Kansas, died Saturday, October 7, 2000, at the Cedar Vale Community Hospital in Cedar Vale, Kansas.
Armon was born August 21, 1913 in Celt, Missouri to James C. and Hester Ann (Conn) Urie. At the age of 14, Armon moved with his family to Cambridge, Kansas and then to Foraker, Oklahoma.
On October 29, 1934, Armon married Mary Blanche Walker at Sedan. They moved to the Moore Prairie Community southwest of Sedan in 1935 and to their present farm in 1941. They would have celebrated their 66th Wedding Anniversary October 29th.
Armon was a farmer and rancher. He worked in the oil field and for the Chautauqua County Road Department for 32 years as a Road Maintainer. He attended the Wauneta Methodist Church.
He leaves his wife, Mary, of the home, one son, Richard and wife, Glenda, of rural Sedan, KS, two granddaughters, Kim and husband, Doug Holt, of rural Cedar Vale, KS, Dawne and husband, Kevin Stevenson, of Rexford, KS, one grandson, Rusty and wife, Shannon Rhodes, and great grandchildren Andrew, Denton and Chelsea Holt, Ryan and Tyler Stevenson and Kalee Rhodes.
Armon was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Lowell, and his sister, Faye.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 10, 2000, at the Wauneta Methodist Church with the Reverends Bill Long and Larry Bowyer officiating. Burial followed in the Moore Prairie Cemetery under the direction of the Graves Funeral Home in Caney, Kansas.
The family has suggested memorials to the Wauneta Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society and contributions may be left at the funeral home.
MRS. BEULAH L. UTT
Beaulah L. Utt, age 86 of Winfield, formerly of Cedar Vale, died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006 at the Winfield Rest Haven Nursing Home in Winfield.
Beaulah was born April 5, 1920 to Harry Oliver and Della Merle (White) Cox in Ashton. She was raised in the Ashton, Geuda Springs area in Sumner County where she attended her early years of school. In 1937, she and her family moved to the Otto community. She finished her schooling at Cedar Vale and graduated from Cedar Vale High School in 1939. After graduating from school, Beaulah was employed at the Cedar Vale Bakery.
She married Grant C. Utt January 10, 1941 in Cedar Vale. From this union came two daughters Ula Marie and Ola Jean. Beaulah had 4 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren.
Beaulah and Grant spent most of their married life in Cedar Vale except for the short time they spent in Fort Lewis, Wash., and Camp Carson, Colo., while Grant was in the Army. Beaulah and her husband Grant bought and ran Utt Produce from 1952 to 1959. They purchased a farm west of Cedar Vale and for several years had over 7,000 caged layers. Beaulah worked at the Cedar Vale Hospital from 1966 to 1986 when she retired. While at the hospital, she worked in the dietary department, the laundry and housekeeping department.
Beaulah was a loving devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her giving soul caused her to sacrifice much for family and friends without complaints. Beaulah and Grant were members of the Old Time Fiddlers Association and enjoyed camping and going to the area dances held by the Old Time Fiddlers. Although Beaulah could no longer dance, she enjoyed going and listening to the music. Beaulah was an avid crafter throughout her life making many beautiful crocheted items. She also enjoyed embroidery, quilting, plastic canvas and sewing, but crocheting was her first love. Up until her death, her crocheted items were still receiving awards. She enjoyed sharing many of her craft items with family and friends.
Beaulah is survived by her daughter Ola Utt, son-in-law Jerry Walker, her four grandchildren Brenda Myers, Freda Speers, John Walker and Beverly Tolle, her nine great grandchildren Amber Corbett, Dallas Myers, Andrew, William, and Emma Speers, Kayla Kirchner, Kendra Walker, Makayla and Mitchell Tolle all of Cedar Vale; two brothers Linza Cox of Oakdale, Calif., Virgil Dean Cox of Haysville; two sisters, Vivian Reschke of Enterprise and Ruelena McGlasson of Wakeeny and numerous nieces and nephews.
Beaulah was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Della Cox, her husband Grant in 1994, one daughter Ula in 2005, two brothers Raymond and Glenn Cox.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 5 at the First Baptist Church in Cedar Vale with Reverends Mark Davis and Norman Reeves officiating. Interment followed at the Cedar Vale Cemetery in Cedar Vale.

George Utt Funeral Rites Held Yesterday
George Elsworth Utt son of James G. and Mary E. Utt was born Sept 14, 1862 at
Jerseyville, Ill. He had been in poor health for some time due to heart trouble. Had he
lived on day longer he would have been 71 years and 5 months old.
He came to Kansas with his father when we was nine years old. His parents homesteaded in Lookout Valley south of Cedar Vale for 31 years.
He was married to Minnie E. Wilson, Sept 1, 1897. To this union 7 children were born. All survive him, Mrs. R. F. Hassard, Cedar Vale, Mrs. H .W. Myers, Dexter, Ks., Frank Utt, Cedar Vale, Mrs. C .O. Couch, Caney Ks., Mrs. Curtis Gray, Wauneta, Ks., Miss Georgia Utt, Winfield, Ks. and Carl Utt Cedar Vale, Ks.
He leaves to mourn his going, his widow, Minnie Utt, seven children above named, seven grandchildren, also six brothers, Will Utt Silverdale, Ks., B. L Utt Springfield, Mo., Walter Utt, Riverside, Wash., Charley Utt, Moline, Ks., Jim Utt Pratt, Ks., John Utt of near Cedar Vale; two sisters Mrs. India Childers, Okla. City, OK., Mrs. J. J. Koonce, Hooser, Ks., besides other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon at 2:30 at the 1st Baptist church of Cedar Vale. Interment in Cedar Vale cemetery.

Maurice E. Utt Jr., 89, Cedar Vale, died Saturday July 21, 2007. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 25, at the Cedar Vale City Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 24 at the Wheeler Funeral Home in Cedar Vale. Funeral Services for Mrs. Minnie Utt Today
Funeral services are being held this afternoon for Mrs. Minnie Utt, 73, of Cedar Vale who
died Tuesday evening at 8 o’clock in the Newton Memorial Hospital in Winfield following
a long illness.
Mrs. Utt had spent her entire life in the vicinity of Cedar Vale. She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Mary Couch and Mrs. R. F. Hassard of Cedar Vale, Mrs. Curtis Gray of Wauneta, Mrs. Ollie Myers of Wichita and Mrs. T. L. Tomlinson of Santa Fe, New Mexico and two sons Frank of Cedar Vale and Carl of Seattle, Washington.
Rev. Coldren of the First Baptist church in Cedar Vale is in charge of the services. Interment will be in the Cedar Vale cemetery.
MRS. LENA UTTERBACK
Lena Utterback, age 81, of Sedan, Kansas, died Wednesday, May 10,2001, at Jane Phillips Memorial Hospital in Bartlesville, OK. She was born October 17, 1919 at Lowe, KS to Everett and Floy (Lavely) Banning. She was a retired retail merchant and a member of the Sedan First Baptist Church. On November 7, 1941 at Yuma, Arizona, she and George C. Utterback were united in marriage. He survives at the home.
Other survivors include one son, Stephen Utterback, Houston, TX, one daughter, Cheryl Lamer, McCracken, KS, three brothers, Keith Banning, Wichita, KS, Lyle Banning, Gervis, OR and Melvin Banning, Sacramento, CA, two sisters, Nola Burch, Fredonia, KS and Twila Wilson, Bend, OR and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 19, 2001 at 10:30 a.m. in the Sedan First Baptist Church. Interment was at Greenwood Cemetery in Sedan. Rev. Dois Nix of the Sedan First Baptist Church officiated. Graves- Baird Funeral Home in Sedan was in charge of the arrangements.
Memorials in her name have been established with, the Sedan First Baptist Church. Any contributions may be left at the funeral home.
MR. MAX C. UTTERBACK
Max Carlos Utterback, 90, Wellington, died Thursday. March 1, 2007. Graveside services were held Monday, March 5 at 11 a.m. in the Round Mound Cemetery (sic) at Caney. Memorials are being made to the Sumner Regional Medical Center and may be left at the Parcels Family Funeral Home in Caney.
Note: This may be the Round Mound cemetery in Chautauqua County.
MRS. ORENE UTTERBACK
Orene A.K.A. "Honey", "Auntie Honey" and "Grandmother Honey" Utterback, of Wellington, Kan., died Friday, July 29, 2011 at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Wellington, Kan., at the age of 92.
Orene was born the daughter of S. Douglas and Eva Violet (Pumpelly) Witt on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 1919 in Wauneta, Kan.
On Jan. 15, 1938, she and Max C. Utterback were united in marriage in Caney, Kan. Together they celebrated 69 years of marriage.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Lucille White and brother, Paul Witt.
Survivors include her daughter, Kay Robinson and her husband Doug of Conroe, Texas; daughter, Billie Jane Mooney and her husband Gary of Salina, Kan.; daughter, Carla Rains and her husband Roger of Wellington, Kan.; grandchildren, Melinda Sciples and her husband Stace of Flower Mound, Texas, Randall Robinson of Frisco, Texas, Melanie Fitzpatrick and her husband Frank of Flower Mound, Texas, Tamie Rains of Wichita, Kan., Troy Rains and his wife Sandy of Benton, Kan.; great-grandchildren, Shane, Sarah and Samantha Sciples, Taylor and Will Robinson, John Fitzpatrick, Danielle and Matt Rains; brothers-in-law, Paul White of Sedan, Kan. and Clint Utterback of Sedan, Kan.; sister-in-law, Bernadine Cramner of Owasso, Okla., along with manv nieces and nephews.
At Orene's request, there was no visitation or graveside services. She was interred at Round Mound Cemetery near Cedar Vale, Kan. Memorial services were Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011 at the First Christian Church in Wellington.
Memorials have been established in her loving memory with the First Christian Church, 123 West 9th Street, Wellington, KS 67152 or Hospice Care of Kansas, 314 North Washington, Wellington, KS 67152. Contributions can be mailed or left with the funeral home.
