An Old Citizen Dead
Dr. A.A. Andrews Passes Away
Had lived near Sedan for years. Practiced Medicine in This and Elk County
For Many Years, But finally Retired to his farm.
The old residents of Chautauqua and Elk Counties will be pained to learn of the death of Dr. A.A. Andrews which occurred at his farm home 8 miles north of Sedan last Monday morning about 6 o’clock. His death was sudden and painless.
At the time of his death, the deceased had reached the ripe old age of 81 years and 6 months and for the past twelve or fifteen months his physical condition has been such that he has kept to his room-most of the time confined to his bed. He and his family have long expected the end to come at any time, consequently when the final summons did come it found them all prepared for the worst. Monday morning, however, he really felt stronger than usual and within a few minutes of his death ate a hearty breakfast-having gotten out of bed and gone to the table. Finishing his meal, he lay down to rest and in less than five minutes after he was cold in death. He died as he had often expressed a desire to-suddenly and without pain. CHILD DIES OF BURNS
Three-Year-Old Daughter of Mr and Mrs. Leslie Atkinson, Havana, Stood Too Close to a Stove.
Burns received Saturday morning, when her clothing ignited as she stood too close to a stove, proved fatal at midnight Saturday night to Wanda Marie, 8-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Atkinson, farmers living north of Havana.
Mr. and Mrs. Atkinson were out of their house, doing farm chores, when another daughter, 5 years old, came running from the house to tell them Wanda Marie had been burned. The child’s clothing, with the exception of her shoes and stockings, had been burned away and her 5-year-old sister had tried in vain to save her.
Wanda Marie was born July 2, 1928. Her parents have two other children, a 5-year-old daughter and another child younger than Wanda Marie. Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock tomorrow in the Methodist Episcopal church at Havana, with Rev. Charles Hatfield of Tyro in charge.
